How to Make a Chalkboard Recipe Holder
In order to make the Chalkboard Recipe holder you will need to first gather your supplies. Everything came from the Dollar Tree The only thing I purchased separately was the mini rolling pin. You can find those here.
Once you have all the materials you will need to set up an area to create. The dining room table or your craft table is a great place. I made this in front of my Dreambox cabinet as it has all my supplies within the craft storage cabinet at an arms reach.

You can also check out my Dreambox Setup in this video to see how I have it set up! I absolutely love the Dreambox setup. It really makes crafting so much more fun!
Materials Needed:
- Cutting Board Paddle
- Chalkboard 5X7 size
- Mini Rolling Pin
- Burlap Ribbon
- Metal Clip ( I used the round magnetic ones and hot glued in place)
- and a stand of picture frame backing to create a stand.
Once you have your supplies you will need glue the chalkboard to one side of the cutting board paddle. I decided to make a bow out of burlap ribbon and placed at the top.
I then added the metal clip towards the very top to be able to actually clip a recipe card on the holder.
After, I secured the mini rolling pin to the very bottom to create a ledge to either hold my phone or a recipe card.
Lastly, I took a picture frame backing that had a sturdy stand and glued it to the back to allow the paddle and chalkboard to stand up.
I created a video showing my process which you can watch below.
Putting It All Together
What do you think? I really love the way it turned out. I also created a second version using the red cutting board and an unpainted mini-rolling pin since it came with red handles.
I really think the red option is great too if you have any red within your kitchen’s decor. You could also make the red version around Christmas time with Red and Green Christmas ribbon and give as gifts with your favorite Christmas cookie recipe attached!
