Where to Buy Vinyl for your Silhouette
Knowing where to buy vinyl for your silhouette machine for the best price and quality can be challenging. I have had a cutting machine in my life for over 6-7 years.
In fact, I had the very first generation Cricut when it came out. Shortly after owning it, I sold that one and bought the upgraded Cricut Expression II. I had all of the cartridges and could cut out loads of things.
Anyone who was a serious crafter in the early 2000s knew about this machine and had one.
It was pretty amazing!
And after doing paper crafting projects with it, I learned and discovered that I wanted a Silhouette Cameo. The main appeal back then was the fact that the SIlhouette Machine software would allow you to pull in an image (of your own) and use it to cut and print, anything you wanted.
You weren’t subject to Cricut’s cartridges.
This was a limitation at the time. At least when used properly, without hacking or “jail-breaking” the machine. Soon after I switched, Cricut made it possible to use both the cartridges and other outside images.
Today, possibilities are limitless for craft projects, especially projects with adhesive vinyl, and heat transfer vinyl.

And just for the sake of mentioning it, adhesive vinyl is used to create decals for cars, cups, signs, and other hard surfaces.
Heat transfer vinyl is for shirts, fabrics, bags, and soft fabric like surfaces.
Both are vinyl in a sense, and I’ve watched the industry in vinyl crafting explode over the last few years. Knowing what supplier to buy from and what quality is good has become challenging.

Where to Buy Vinyl
The obvious places to buy vinyl from are directly from the manufacturers. Cricut makes their own vinyl and sells in major craft retailers like Hobby Lobby and Joanns everywhere.
Bring in the colors of Fall with 40% off Fall Floral at Hobby Lobby.
Silhouette also makes their own vinyl, along with sticker paper, and many other mediums as well as other machines. You might be able to buy Silhouette Vinyl in stores, and then you might not. If you do, it is usually limited, or maybe already sold out.
Both Cricut and SIlhouette vinyl work just fine, and you can use either one in either machine without problems.

However, note that both manufacturers are “machine makers” and really don’t focus on vinyl. Their focus is the machine, its operability, and software.

Thier vinyl usually costs more and while both brands sell a variety, they don’t sell everything.
That all being said there are some pretty great places to get great vinyl without breaking the bank.
Quickest Vinyl Supplier
Amazon sells all sorts of vinyl by various suppliers. You can even find SIlhouette and Cricut brand on Amazon. But I caution you that when you go to buy vinyl, you do your research, read the reviews and make notes of the vinyl sellers you like and do not like.
My favorite suppliers are the following:
For Adhesive Vinyl – I love love love this supplier. You get a variety and all sorts of colors and shades.
For Heat Transfer Vinyl – I get this listing here. Its a variety pack of all colors.
For Black Heat Transfer – I get from the same supplier, but this pack is only black sheets. You can also order this one in white.
Expressions Vinyl
Expressions Vinyl is another great place to buy vinyl for your cutting machine. They are solely a vinyl company selling in a whole variety of vinyl. They have pretty quick service too and amazing deals on vinyl. You can click on the banner below to be taken to their website.

Etsy is a great marketplace to buy vinyl. But, just like Amazon, you need to watch out for shipping, reviews, and pricing when it comes to vinyl. Look at the sizes and sheet cut amounts you are getting versus when buying a roll or vinyl.

Pictures may be deceiving so read the descriptions to know exactly what you are getting. A double check whether you wanted to buy vinyl that is for shirts (heat transfer vinyl) or to buy vinyl that is for hard surfaces (adhesive vinyl) when ordering.
For pattern vinyl both for heat transfer and adhesive vinyl, this supplier is by far my favorite to buy vinyl form. She has amazing customer service and even does live shows selling vinyl bundle deals related to seasonal crafting projects.
Overall, these are my Top Six places to buy vinyl. Here is the list again with links a quick jump to.
