The Best Cleaning Tips & Products
Learn the best cleaning tips and tricks to easily clean your house in a short amount of time. These products are made plant-derived ingredients and smell amazing!Â
I hate cleaning. But, I do like a clean house. I am sure most individuals feel this way. The act or process of cleaning always seems to take forever. It is definitely not as fun as doing something else. This post contains some affiliate links for your convenience (which means if you make a purchase after clicking a link I will earn a small commission but it is at no additional cost to you)! Read my full disclosure here.
Somewhere between becoming an adult living at home, to renting or owning your own place most people realize that if they do not clean up after themselves no one else will either.
I remember several times as a very young adult in college in my own apartment when my own mess became too large to ignore anymore. The dishes had to be cleaned, the trash needed to be changed and the old taken out, the laundry done.
Having to stop and clean is just a time suck or a killer of joy isn’t it?
I cannot say that there is no one who doesn’t enjoy it. Because I know people who rather enjoy cleaning for work as long as they are getting paid to do it. And there are even people who enjoy organizing and tidying up.
Even Marie Kondo who started the Konmari method makes a grand living and very much enjoys helping others clean and organize their big messes. Her methods are amazing in fact, I recommend her book The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up.to everyone.
But I am not talking about Spring Cleaning, decluttering or any huge overhauls. I am just talking about your daily clean. Your simple routines to keep your house and space a clean as possible.
The Best Cleaning Tips
There is only one tip that is the best cleaning tip that I can give and that is to simply clean as you go.
Sure, sometimes big messes are made, and it takes longer to clean the kitchen up after a big meal with family and friends. Those times are few.
But even then, cleaning as you go works wonders even in your every day.
Clean As You Go
In order to clean as you go, I recommend to always have some sort of favorite cleaning product or wipes nearby, especially in the kitchen and bathroom areas.
These rooms or places in your home are the most prone to daily messes several times as day. So as soon as there is a spill you can grab your wipes, spray and just quickly clean it. This can be done so quickly that you barely even noticed you made a mess.
I do this while cooking. But let me clarify.
I do not spray cleaning spray near or around my food. But as I prepare food and plate it the dirty dish or pans get moved to the sink. The plated food is set on the table. In the few minutes everyone is coming to the table I quickly spray and clean any countertop messes or spills.
That way when the meal is over, only the dirty dishes need to be loaded in the dishwasher.
For whatever reason, the task of cleaning after dinner seems to be less involved and less loathed.
I call it cleaning as you go, you might just say its a mind game. Either way, you look at it, there more joy in finishing the job over dreading it.
The Best Cleaning Products
On top of my little game of cleaning as I go, I like to keep cleaning products close by. I mentioned this above. I keep for the most part a multi-surface cleaner in kitchen and bathrooms within reach. And for me, the best product for this is the Mrs. Meyers Multi-surface cleaner.
I don’t know what it is about this $4 bottle of stuff but it just makes me want to clean a little more than I ever did. It smells amazing.
But not only does it smell amazing, but the garden-fresh scent is also paired with plant-derived ingredients and essential oils!
Why I love Mrs. Meyers Products
- They are free of animal-derived ingredients & not tested on animals
- Concentrated cleaning formula, it is hard-working & biodegradable
- Made with essential oils & plant-derived ingredients
- Removes dirt & freshens surfaces
You cannot ask for more than this. I keep a multi-surface bottle in each bathroom and the kitchen. The labeling on the bottles is also subtle and very simple. I love this because I can almost leave it out on my countertop in its own little tray right next to the sink without it being too distracting to my decor.
It not like those other bright neon colored labels you see on other cleaning products. This is huge. Something that is tackily packaged makes me want to hide it under the cabinet or out of plain sight.
And by doing so, reaching it or grabbing it when you have those all of sudden spills or messes, makes for the whole “cleaning as you go” idea fly right out the window with it.
Then you are right back to where you began.
Where you can find Mrs. Meyers Products
My favorite place to find them is through the Grove Collaborative Catalog online.
Shipping is really fast, and the prices are very inexpensive. On top of that you get freebies and based off what you order, you get additional products or discounts.
You can also find some products limited to other shopping stores and even on Amazon.
However, you won’t get the free gifts or the upgrades. I find its best to still get them directly from Grove Collaborative.Â
