Summer is officially happening and in full swing in my household. I just love Summer because it allows for a slow down from the hustle of everyday life. The kids are out from school and while that means they are home with me during the day, it also means that the “afterschool” life is for the most part over as well. There’s no running around to Soccer, Dance, Awana nights. Sure there are Summer Camps here and there and some special events but nothing like what happens during the typical school year.
Sweet Summer Time
I am so thankful I get to be home with them and enjoy the lazy days with them. Being a crafty mom, I’m sure you are willing to bet that I decorate our home for Summer. All three of my kiddos have Summer birthdays, which makes the decor for the weeks of their birthdays fun, but for the most part, June is completely a full Summer theme with July being mostly patriotic.
Every year, I add a pillow or two to the couch pillows that Summer theme and I create and display Summer related decorations.
I saw some beautiful watercolor watermelon fabric and fell in love! And as it came time to decorate my annual table at my church’s Moms Group Fundraiser Tea, I just knew I had to have the fabric to use as my main theme.
I was asked to decorate two tables this year so this meant either two separate themes or double of everything. I was so in love with the watermelon fabric, that I just had to do double of everything.
Here’s a look at my decorated tea tables for the fundraiser tea I participated in this year.
To outfit the table centerpieces I decided to go with a tiered look displaying signs and farmhouse decor. One thing I came up with is this cute “One In A Melon” Watermelon sign. I made two of this one for each table.
You can also see the watercolor fabric above that I fell in love with that set the theme for my tables.
I really loved the idea because I knew after the event I’d display the sign on my coffee bar to add to my Summer decor collection. The second one I gave away.
