Merry & Bright Christmas Lights Home Tour
With Christmas just around the corner, I thought I’d share a home tour of my home and all of the holiday decorating.
You might find or see some of the past DIYs I’ve done in the photos as well. But, that’s not all because I am bringing you more than just 1 home tour. I’m bringing you along with 15 other home decor bloggers who have also shared photos of their holiday decor.
I am excited to join my friend Brittany from Our Home Made Easy who is hosting today’s Christmas light home tour.
My Home Tour – Christmas
First up is my favorite! It is a new addition to my home decor for Christmas and I couldn’t be more thrilled. It is my 6-foot flocked tree that is in our tv family room.
I decorated this tree in the theme I chose for the year, which if you haven’t been able to guess by now is Black and White Buffalo check. I love it so much. This tree was outfitted with white lights and buffalo check ribbon. I also purchased new ornaments for this tree. Most of the ornaments came from the dollar tree, and some I made.
Of course, my favorites for this tree are the Rae Dunn Ornaments I made this year and last year.
I love snuggling up on the couch this time of year with family watching Hallmark Christmas movies with this in the background.
Just beneath the television is a Department 56 Christmas village. My dad gave me this village scene from his personal collection last year. He has over 200 houses. I just love the village. It looks like a scene from a Hallmark movie, or even a great Christmas story book.
The village has its own set of lights for the town and in the back, I created a tree farm for village’s own backdrop.
On the sides of the village, I filled in with trees and houses from the Target Dollar spot. I think it went perfectly with the white shiplap background.
The farmhouse bucked flocked Christmas trees were also a craft DIY that you can find here.
This entire area has been one of my most favorite and anticipated places in my home to decorate. I love sitting in this room, watching tv and being with my loved ones in this room.
And when it comes to snuggling on the couch, I just love our couch pillows. Every year I add one to two Christmas couch pillows to my collection. This year I even created some of my own.

Merry & Bright Home Tour Kitchen
Just off the kitchen is my next favorite spot. That is the coffee bar. With every season and every Holiday, I change up and decorate my coffee bar with seasonal decor.
Here’s a look at my Christmas decor. I have several holiday coffee mugs I bring out just for this time of year!
You can look into my living room from this spot and see my console table decor featuring an antique Santa and Santa lantern that was homemade by some fellow craft and DIYers.
Formal Dining and Living Room – Merry & Bright Christmas Home Tour
In the front of our home is my formal living room and a larger main tree. Each year we gather around this tree with all of our family. This tree is 9 feet tall and sits on a large base metal drum bucket. The lights on this tree are interchangeable form color lights to white lights.
My youngest son absolutely loves the colored lights, so much so he has a thing going with me to where I change them to white. He comes along and changes them to color. It is kind of cute. However, I completely forgot and snapped a color photo of this picture. I didn’t even notice until I uploaded the home tour photos that it was the colored light shown.
Oh well. My favorite is white and in my opinion, makes the tree. However, my four year old wins this time. So colored traditional lights are what you see in this photo.
I plan to eventually swap out the teal curtains, I just have not found anything I am crazy about yet.
I also have my china cabinet in this main formal living room that displays my late grandmother’s china. I decorate this area and hang all of the Christmas cards we receive every year on little reindeer clips.
In the end, I like to make a collection book of all of the cards in a scrapbook format to save for years to come. I imagine that when I am older, I will go through them looking at past years.

I haven’t done that yet, but I still make the photo card scrapbooks.
I also have a miniature section featuring another common theme you will find throughout my home, which is the Red Truck and Tree. I love the red truck. I have red trucks displayed throughout.
Our Family Christmas Photo
And of course here is a picture of our family Christmas photo. I had to share since we coordinated with the black and white buffalo check theme this year.
Some of our favorite traditions are opening Christmas Crackers filled with little goodies and paper crowns. We wear the paper crowns while we eat so that everyone can be Queens and Kings on Christmas. Another is that my father always brings mini ham sandwiches as an appetizer to eat.
And, this year, I think I like to implement one or two more. One being the pickle ornament. Seems so silly yet could be fun, and that everyone wear Christmas PJs during the day. Comfy and cozy – nothing too fancy.
What do you think? DId you like my home tour? What are your favorite traditions?
