The Fourth of July is a great holiday to share with family and friends showing support of the country and appreciating our Freedoms. I for one have realized that in my past younger days have taken some freedoms and liberties for granted.
In the world, we live in, and as I age, I am beginning to appreciate more and more all that I have and have been blessed with. And of those things, is the simple ability and freedom to celebrate The Fourth of July.
The holiday is a great reminder in itself, and an opportunity to teach my children our country’s rich history while also talking and sharing about the world we live in today and how we got here.
I didn’t always use to decorate for the Fourth of July, but in the past two years I’ve seen a mini collection of decor grow and I am also creating my own.
Why not be fun and festive?!
I love a good sign to sit on the tiered tray of my dining table or coffee bar. And this DIY Patriotic Sign is no exception.
I made a video of my entire process that you can watch below. And if you don’t mind, would you please subscribe to my You-Tube Channel! It would mean a lot!
Making a Patriotic Sign
- Wood Frame Sign – I purchased mine from Hobby Lobby for less than $3.
- Blue Paint – You can find a set of colors here.
- Vinyl Decal SVG Cut File – Resource Library – it is FREE to get a password!
- Dollar Tree Metal Embellishment Star
Each step is fairly easy.
Step 1: Paint and stain the sign background of the sign. I did a blue background and used a gel wax paint to stain the frame pieces of the sign. I taped off each section before painting and touched up the edges.
Step 2: Apply your vinyl decal to your sign.
Step3: Hot glue into place the metal embellishment star. Be sure to glue in a position that allows for the sign to still stand on its own. Note: If the star hangs over the edge, you will need to prop the sign on something else to make it stand upright.
That’s it! Display how you want with other patriotic decor and enjoy!!!
