What You Need to Know
So you just bought your first machine, preferably from a local dealer or sewing store and you are all excited to get it home. More than likely your machine came with a few set designs in it and you know you will more than likely try those out to test once you get your machine set up.
You also know that you can wait to create and make your own designs, and there is the blind excitement behind your own designs of what you will create, but the possibilities seem endless. Who knows you might be a wiz at this embroidery thing and just make everything for everyone.
Soon after this thought, you smile might fade a little as you begin to wonder how in the world are you going to create the designs you dream of? You will need some sort of program or software.
Yes, that is correct… the machine is amazing but more than likely can’t read your mind and will need some software or program in order to tell it what to stitch.
And all the while, while technology is amazing you just can’t load any old picture or jpeg type file into the embroidery machine and it automatically knows what to do.
Why You Need Embroidery Machine Software
You need embroidery machine software to modify or even create designs. MOre than likely in the beginning you will purchase designs. And this is fine, but in my experience of doing machine embroidery, you will modify or add a name to the already existing design.
There is also a possibility you will want to monogram an item such as bath towels, totes, hats, and other things and you will need embroidery machine software in order to create those monograms.
Monograms are three letter groupings or even decorative fonts of a person’s initials categorized or placed in a specific order on the item to monogrammed or embroidered.
Once you have determined what is to be embroidered the software then helps you to create and organize the letters, font or design. In most cases, you then save to a thumb drive then send the design to your machine from the thumb drive or directly from your computer.
Embroidery Machine Software
The two most popular embroidery machine software companies on the market are Sew What Pro and Embrillance.
Sew What Pro and Embrillance have a free trial and customer support. They both offer basic edit functions such as flipping rotating, and merging designs.
If you operate on Windows – Sew What Pro works with windows only. Embrillance works with both a Mac and PC.
It is my opinion that Embrillance is the best software out there that is the most flexible. And while you will more than likely pay a little more for it, it is worth the price because you can also build upon the software for the tools you need as your embroidery machine skill set grows.
Embrillance offers Alphabet addon that also allows you to type out any font you may purchase from any other designer. Not all fonts type out this way. You will find that you have to place each letter in a word one by one. But if you have the Alpha program within Embrillance, your life in embroidery machine software editing will be so much easier and faster.
Where to Get Embrillance Embroidery Machine Software
You can get Embrillance directly from the creators themselves, using this link here. Or you can even purchase the basics with AlphaTricks on Amazon. The pricing is about the same, however, sometimes the creators may offer promotions.
Embrillance software is the best for beginners. It allows you to easily navigate through the design software and quickly learn new techniques including stitch density settings and much more.
And if you are just starting out as a hobby or even wanting to start an embroidery machine business this software will grow with you as you do in your business with your customers’ requests.
You can even create several designs and take them to a local craft show and set up a booth to start selling your embroidery work to others. Sort of test the embroidery business waters first before diving all in. This is also a great way to get your name out there to others in your community letting them you know you have a new talent and service you can do for them.
It makes for great side hustle money, and I find, that I always have a handful of customers each month requesting some sort or embroidery personalization. I am able to offer it and provide it without any issues because the Embrillance software makes it that easy to type or edit a file or name and put right on my machine. Sometimes, depending on the job, it can be done in just a few minutes.
Do you use a different embroidery software? Leave a comment and let me know, or if I can offer any additional help in getting started with machine embroidery.
