Lemon Home Decor
When it is Summer one of the best ways to celebrate the longer warmer sunny days is by using lemons. Or rather using lemons in your home decor.
There’s just something classic about lemon home decor that makes a home warm and inviting.
There are so many ways you can decorate with lemons. In fact, Hobby Lobby always has a great selection of Summer Lemon Home Decor, and you can even find great lemon decor ideas from the Dollar Tree.
Even just a bowl of real lemons on the kitchen counter looks nice and is serves a dual purpose.
Decorating With Lemons
This year I wanted to decorate with lemons for summer. And naturally, that meant I needed a little more decor.
I already had a few faux lemons and lemon tree branches which I sprinkled around my home. I even put a basket of faux lemons on my coffee bar.
But it was missing something, and that’s when I decided to make a cute DIY Lemon Sign to partner with the basket of lemons.
Making A DIY Lemon Sign
I created this sign using mostly materials I had in my craft stash and the Lemon Home Decor Printable you can find in the Resource Library.
I created a full video tutorial showing how I made the sign below.
Materials Needed:
For the DIY Lemon Sign, you will need the following items
- Wood or solid surface for the background of sign (cardstock, cardboard, foamboard)
- Napkin in a cute pattern
- Mod Podge
- Free Printable for image and sign – you can download FREE from the Library
- Ribbons and embellishments to make the bow
- Hot Glue gun and hot glue
Once you have all the materials you will need to set up an area to create. The dining room table or your craft table is a great place. I made this in front of my Dreambox cabinet as it has all my supplies within the craft storage cabinet at an arms reach.

Instructions:
To make this sign, first, start by mod podging the napkin pattern to the surface or background piece. Allow for drying time. While the surface of the sign is drying, cut out the printable wording or image you desire to fit the size of your sign.
Make sure you can see the background image of the napkin when you cut the printable.
Decorate any extra embellishments you wish to add to the sign and allow them time to dry.
Making A Bow
Then, make the bow using 3-4 types of ribbon. I usually cut 2 stripes of each type of ribbon I have. Then layer each piece of the ribbon in a cross pattern.
Secure the ribbon with twine by tying all the pieces together and make a knot in the back. Lastly, add any embellishment to the front center section of the ribbon bow.
For this project, I added a yellow sunflower scrapbooking embellishment I found from Dollar Tree using a bit of hot glue.
Putting It All Together
Once you have all of your pieces made and dry you are ready to put them all together.
Glue or secure with double-sided tape the printable to the mod-podge napkin background. I even added a little paint to blend and distress the paper of the printable to the napkin.
Add your embellishment and lastly add and secure the bow with hot glue.
Display and admire your DIY Lemon Sign. Here is a look at how I displayed the sign on my coffee bar hutch. I absolutely loved the way it looks paired with a small basket of faux lemons.
You can re-create this sign using any of the other three images included with the printable doing a watermelon theme, pineapple theme, or even an ice cream theme.
All of which are perfect home decor themes for summer. You can even mix and match them up.
