DIY Socks With Words
Learn how to create and DIY Funny Socks with words using your Cricut or Silhouette machine and heat transfer vinyl. This tutorial shows you how to create cute custom socks as gifts or for yourself. These socks are super cute and fun to create using left over heat transfer vinyl.Â
I love creating fun projects that are not only cute but are also functional.
In fact, when it also comes to gift-giving, I like it to be three things. First, handmade, second personalized, and third functional. Two out of three isn’t bad when it comes to gift-giving, but when you land all three, I believe the gift is sure to be a winner!
This project is super fun and quick to create and it hits all three things from my gift-giving checklist!
ÂI love making Funny Socks with Words because not only can you personalize them to the person using them, they are funny!
For my birthday this year, we got a new puppy about a month before my actual birthday in November! I had been wanting a new puppy since March. However, it didn’t work out until October when we found our new family pup. And since it was close to my birthday, we deemed the new puppy my actual birthday present! She’s the best gift ever!
So, when my actual birthday day arrived, my husband didn’t want to be empty-handed. My birthday is in November. And one of my all-time favorite things to do, right around my birthday time, is to start watching the Hallmark Channel Christmas movie countdown.
And since the countdown typically starts around that time, he got me these cute and funny socks that say ” If You Can Read This” on one sock, and “I’m watching Hallmark Christmas Movies” on the other, I about fell out of my chair.
This isn’t the first time I’ve seen socks like this. However, these socks just made my night! Not only did the words fit me to the “T” but it also made me realize something!
They brought me so much joy!
And, then I instantly thought that I could totally create my own socks like these, and gift them as gifts to others.
Yes – Hello DIY!
So, of course, I am sharing how you can re-create this same project! These make the perfect gift for the men in your family that you can pair up with a gift card! Not only functional, cute and personalized but also a great item to pair up with something else as plain as a gift card.
Making Socks With Words
To get started in making socks with words, you will first need to gather up your supplies.
Once you have all the materials you will need to set up an area to create. The dining room table or your craft table is a great place. I made this in front of my Dreambox cabinet as it has all my supplies within the craft storage cabinet at an arms reach.
You CAN GET $100 OFF your own DREAMBOX using code: CRAFTYLIFE at Checkout!
You can also check out my Dreambox Setup in this video to see how I have it set up! I absolutely love the Dreambox setup. It really makes crafting so much more fun!
Materials Needed:
Heat Transfer Vinyl (this is my favorite)
Easy Press or Heat Press and a Cutting Machine
Once you have the materials, download the free images from the Resource Library and cut on your Cricut or Silhouette. Weed the excess vinyl and then press the vinyl onto the sock.
