DIY Fall Pumpkin Decor Sign
Fall is just around the corner and I love to decorate my home for Fall every year adding new items to my collection from years past.
Today I have a simple DIY Fall Pumpkin Sign you can create using items from the dollar tree making this super inexpensive.
The inspiration came from another crafter and from a similar pumpkin I saw in Kirklands.
Here is the pumpkin I loved at Kirklands. It was priced at around $20-$24, which is not expensive at all. But then later was at the Dollar Tree and got the idea to make my own.
In order to make this DIY Dollar Store version of the pumpkin you will need the following supplies, most of them you can get from the Dollar Tree. Or even order online at Dollar Tree if you do not have one close to you.

Making the Pumpkin Sign
First you will want to paint the pumpkin completely white. I did two coats on my pumpkin letting it dry about 15 minutes between each coat.
For my last coat, I painted in a vertical motion to allow the paintbrush to leave the brush stroke marks vertically. I wanted this to look like rustic barn wood and thought the vertical strokes would help that look.
Once the second coat was dry, I was ready to apply my plank wood looking lines.
In order to paint the stripes gray color, I mixed black and white acrylic paint. Once you get the desired look of gray coloring you like, simply paint the stripes.
You can freehand the stripes or you can use a straight edge to help get your lines straight.

There is no right or wrong way to painting the lines. It does not have to be perfect since this DIY Fall pumpkin sign is all about a farmhouse look.
After you paint the straight lines, smudge with your finger a little paint in areas over the pumpkin. This will give the pumpkin a more worn barn wood look. Again, this does not have to be perfect.
Adding the Details
After the pumpkin is dry from painting you will want to add the final details to this DIY fall pumpkin sign.
I added the green leaf back to the pumpkin the came with it originally.
Then, using my wired ribbon I made a cute bow and hot glued the bow in place. You can make you bow as big or little as you want.

Then, using the metal words also form the Dollar Tree or by using the FREE SVG file below you can add vinyl wording to your pumpkin!
Once it is complete, put it on display in your home and enjoy!
